"As far as we currently know, the basic funding of the Fraunhofer FFB and the successful implementation of our project to establish research production are not affected by the financial cuts by the German government. Nevertheless, we are very concerned about the planned cut of 75 percent of battery research funding, as it casts a worrying shadow over Germany as a center for innovation. Over the past 15 years, an internationally recognized research and development community has been built up at universities and research institutions as part of the BMBF's umbrella concept for battery research and other funding measures, which has made a significant contribution to securing the long-term technological sovereignty of our country and Europe, as recognized by industry representatives. In the BatteryCityMünster and beyond, cutting-edge technologies are developed and transferred to industry. The planned cuts threaten to deprive the battery ecosystem – which has successfully grown to include innovation from research and a skilled workforce – of its very foundation."
