The "FFB PreFab" - battery production research all along the line

Battery production research all along the line

The Fraunhofer Research Fab Battery Cell FFB is inaugurating the "FFB PreFab," a specialized open battery cell factory for research and development. The initial construction phase is scheduled to officially commence on April 30, 2024. Utilizing cutting-edge European machinery technology, the FFB will start its research activities across an expanse of roughly 6,450 square meters. This marks a significant milestone in the progression towards the "FFB Fab" in Münster, poised to facilitate industry-focused production research through large-scale system technology.

Functions of the FFB PreFab

  • Production for testing equipment, components, and cell designs on a pilot scale
  • Research and development
  • Industrial consulting and optimization of production lines and processes
